The John Oxley Library is a major information source
for Queensland and its history. The Library provides access to the
information in its
collections, and also provides a reproduction service from its pictorial
collections including online collections and exhibitions.
The Library collects and preserves material of all kinds
relating to the state of Queensland, Australia, including books, magazines,
maps,
photographs, original art, oral histories and manuscripts.
Please note
that, due to the collections' nature and the mission of the John
Oxley Library, none of its material can be borrowed.
However,
some material may be photocopied, at the discretion of library staff.

The Community
and Personal Histories Section was established to provide
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with access to the Department's
historical records. These records include Social History Cards, Wage
Records, Personal Files and Cards relating to: permits to reside, identity,
